At Green Iron Road Wear (GIRW), we build gear that’s made to last and do business with honesty. This Code guides everyone involved—owner, employees, contractors, and partners—to uphold our commitment to quality, fairness, and doing things right, whether we’re crafting products or working with customers, suppliers, or government partners.
1. Quality Craftsmanship
We use high-quality materials, prioritizing U.S.-made parts and military surplus or mil-spec components for their durability and unique, worn-in style.
Every item is handmade with care, designed for tough conditions, from outdoor adventures to heavy-duty repairs. Because we use surplus or worn materials, all items are sold “As-Is.”
We value our customers and want you satisfied. If you have an issue with an item or order, reach out via our Contact form, and we’ll work to make it right.
2. Honest Business Practices
We treat customers, suppliers, and partners with respect and clear communication, no nonsense involved.
We respond to inquiries, orders, and concerns as quickly as we can, typically within a day or two, even with our small team balancing other jobs.
We comply with all laws, regulations, and contract terms, including those for government work, to keep our business on the level.
3. Respect for Our Customers and Community
We serve everyone equally, no matter their background, beliefs, or anything else. Every customer deserves reliable gear.
We protect customer privacy, using personal information only for order fulfillment and never for unsolicited messages, per our GDPR-compliant privacy policy.
We’re proud to be part of the military vehicle and supplies community, whether new or surplus, and to serve our customers faithfully.
4. Taking Responsibility
If we mess up—whether it’s a shipping delay, order issue, or an overcharge—we own it and fix it. Overcharges get refunded, no questions asked.
Our prices are upfront, reflecting the time, labor, and materials in every piece, with no hidden fees.
We keep clear records and provide proper documentation, especially for government contracts, to ensure transparency and accountability.
5. Practical Use of Materials
We repurpose military surplus to avoid waste and because it gives our gear a distinctive, durable look that stands out.
We keep our operations lean, managing challenges like rising shipping costs or international delays to deliver reliably.
6. Safe Use of Our Products
Our gear is designed for tough use, like outdoor adventures or maintaining your equipment, but it’s not meant for load securing, supporting, or life safety purposes. No GIRW items, including straps, buckles, or webbing, should be used as rated safety products or beyond their intended purpose.
We provide clear guidance on how to use and care for our products to ensure they perform as designed.
GIRW and its employees are not liable for the use or misuse of our products.
7. Always Getting Better
We listen to customer feedback and use it to improve our gear, processes, and service.
We adapt to challenges, like shipping snags or supply issues, to keep delivering quality products.
We stay focused on creating gear that’s functional, distinctive, and built to perform.
Compliance and Reporting
Any violation of this Code—by an employee, contractor, or partner—is taken seriously. Report concerns via our Contact form, and we’ll address it promptly and fairly.
For government contracts, we commit to meeting all ethical standards and reporting requirements, ensuring full compliance with federal regulations.
This Code is our promise to operate with integrity, deliver quality, and treat everyone right. It’s how we run GIRW, every single day.
Green Iron Road Wear expends significant effort and cost to ensure orders are secure and properly packaged. However, GIRW will not be liable for packages that are mishandled, delayed, damaged, lost, stolen, delivered to the wrong address, or any other number of problems that can arise during shipping.
During the checkout processes, depending on the weight of the items ordered, GIRW provides customers with an opportunity to select their preferred shipping method: USPS First Class Mail with no shipping insurance, USPS Priority Mail with up to $50 insurance, USPS Priority Express Mail with up to $100 insurance, and USPS Priority Mail or Priority Mail Express with Full Order insurance (up to the full value of the order, excluding shipping).
Any packages that are mishandled, damaged, lost, stolen, delivered to the wrong address, or any other shipping problem are the responsibility of the customer to file and handle with the carrier. We regret this situation, but GIRW is not liable for problems incurred by the carrier, location, provided shipping address, weather, customs, country, the customer’s local laws, or etc.
Return Shipping:
In almost all cases all return and replacement shipping will be paid by the buyer. If Green Iron Road Wear covers or waives any shipping fee, it does so at its own discretion and such decisions do not affect other claims.
Please Note: ALL refunded amounts will NOT included the charged transaction fees by the selected payment method (Square, PayPal, or Amazon Pay). The refund processing is completely out of the hands of GIRW and will vary based upon Square, Paypal, Amazon Pay, and/or the customer’s banking/credit card company. It is advised to expect at least 2 to 7 business days for all the various institutions to complete their processing.
Returns\Refunds:
Returns or refunds may be available:
- If an item or order was mistakenly placed, but a shipping label has not yet been purchased, a full refund is possible, minus transaction fees.
- If an order has been shipped, but not yet picked up by the carrier, a full refund is possible, minus transaction fees, shipping fee, and possibly a 25% restocking fee. Shipping fee may be partially refunded if/when GIRW receives a refund from the carrier.
- If an order has been shipped AND picked up by the carrier, a partial refund is still possible once the item has been returned to GIRW (minus transaction fees, shipping fees, and up-to a 25% restocking fee). The buyer will be responsible for all return shipping charges.
- If the item received by the buyer has a serious defect in its construction that was not part of the original design or very negatively impacts the use/function of the item. The buyer will responsible to clearly provide sufficient proof. All hand made items may include very minor defects, which is normal and non-refundable.
- If GIRW overcharged, a refund may be offered.
Exchanges:
An exchange may also be available if the buyer purchased the wrong size of an item, though the buyer will be responsible for all additional shipping for the exchange. The exchanged item will not be shipped until the previous item is returned. The exchange will be declined and no refund issued if the returned item has been used/damaged by the buyer in any way.
No Returns/Refunds:
Returns are not accepted for the following:
- Custom commissions or if the buyer provided incorrect measurements or instructions. Minor adjustments may be available but further fees may need to be assessed.
- The defect was visible in store pictures.
- The item was sold at a discount due to known defects.
- The item was misused by the buyer.
- The item was damaged in shipping. The buyer will need to file a claim with the shipping agency, if the buyer purchased shipping insurance. See our Policy for Shipping, Insurance, Loss, Theft, & Claims for further details.
- The item shows signs of wear or use of any kind by the buyer.
Green Iron Road Wear is based out of Utah, U.S.A. and any shipment outside of the U.S.A. is considered “International”.
GIRW does not collect European Union (EU) Value Added Tax (VAT) during checkout. Customers will be responsible to pay their corresponding VAT upon delivery and any other processing fees. We apologize for any difficulties or delays incurred by this.
All international orders and shipping, is limited to countries that provide USPS Delivery Confirmation. An up-to-date list of those countries are found on USPS’s website. Our sincerest apologies if you live in a country not on this list. We hope we can expand this list soon.
Note: Due to how USPS handles shipping rates, the following are considered “domestic” when shipped via USPS:
United State (all 50 states), US District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands
At this time the following are the international countries that GIRW will sell and ship to:
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Republic of, Singapore, Slovak Republic (Slovakia), Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, United States of America (and Minor Outlying Islands), and Vietnam.
Items listed on “Backorder” or “Available for Backorder” mean that we have all the supplies to make the item, but do not have the item currently completed and available for immediate shipment.
Shipping for an order containing a “backorderd” item will only be delayed by a few days (generally a week or less) and customers will not need to wait weeks or even months. Obviously, ordering a number of “backordered” items will increase the time to ship.
Green Iron Road Wear makes every effort to provide high quality, accurate workmanship. However, since all items are hand made and many are purposefully made with used, surplus, or old/worn materials, all items are sold “As-Is”.
Still, we at Green Iron Road Wear love our customers and want them to be satisfied with their purchase. Please Contact Us if you have any other questions or if you have a problem with any item or order.
While GIRW often uses heavy gauge rings, buckles or webbing, no items created by GIRW are meant to be used as, or in place of, actual rated safety products. Nor should any items, straps, hardware, or etc be used as load securing, supporting, or life safety devices.
All items should not be used other than their original intent.
Green Iron Road Wear nor any of its employees assume any liability for the use or misuse of any of its products.
Items sold at a discount, or listed in the “Salvage Bin” of the GIRW web store are discounted because of a material, color, or a construction defect. The quantities and availability are very limited. “Salvage Bin” items are sold AS IS. Under no conditions will refunds or returns be accepted for these items.
Green Iron Road Wear wholly reserves the right to refuse service and custom commissions for any reason, and at the minimum, on the following grounds:
- If GIRW is closed for custom work.
- Existing known, or reported, poor business history such as fraud, attempted fraud, lying, theft, attempted theft, charge backs, late/delayed payments, or similar.
- Graphic, pornographic, sexual, explicit, suggestive, defamatory, or derogatory language imagery or material.
- Extremist political or religious ideologies.
- Work that violates our own personal religious and moral liberties.
Green Iron Road Wear does not, and will not, discriminate on the basis of race, national origin (ancestry), religion, creed, sex, sexual preference, sexual orientation, gender, age, disability, marital status, non-extremist political views or associations, or military status, in any of its activities or operations. These activities include, but are not limited to, hiring and firing of staff, selection of volunteers and vendors, suppliers, and provision of services. We are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of our staff, volunteers, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
To maintain safety, privacy, and security, all news post comments and product reviews require approval before they are publicly visible.
Poor reviews from unsatisfied customers are not grounds for not approving a review. We at GIRW value honesty and integrity and we thank our customers for taking the time to help us improve our products and inform other customers.
All customer’s photos listed in the Customer Gallery (and sometimes on applicable product pages) have been used with permission. Customers retain full rights to their photos and may send a written request that their photograph(s) be removed at any time.
Green Iron Road Wear may edit, crop, resize or adjust the photo to improve its clarity of GIRW product(s) and to fit the website. The GIRW watermark is added to protect the rights of the photograph owner and GIRW. GIRW does not sell or redistribute the photos and only uses them for advertisement and promotion purposes.
The submission of a photo does not guarantee its use. Customer’s photos may not be used for a number of reasons including, but not limited to, variety in the gallery, quality, resolution, and/or any other photo content or background that may depict laws being violated, violates any of the policies contained here, or anything that GIRW deems objectionable. GIRW retains sole discretion on this matter.
At Green Iron Road Wear (GIRW), we keep our business honest and focused on delivering quality gear. This Conflict of Interest Policy ensures that everyone involved—owner, employees, contractors, and partners—makes decisions that put GIRW’s mission and customers first, free from personal or outside influences. We’re a small operation, but we take integrity seriously, especially when working with government partners.
1. What’s a Conflict of Interest?
A conflict happens when someone’s personal interests, or their current or past work with another organization, could interfere with their ability to act in GIRW’s best interests.
Examples include: working for a competitor, supplier, or customer in a way that affects GIRW decisions; using GIRW resources for personal gain; or letting past employment sway business choices.
2. Disclosure and Transparency
If you’re part of GIRW and have a current or former job, business interest, or relationship that might create a conflict (e.g., working for a supplier or a competitor from your past), you must tell Zane Larsen, Owner/Operator, right away.
Use our Contact form or email to report any potential conflict, including details like the organization, your role, and how it might relate to GIRW’s work.
We’ll review the situation fairly to decide if it’s a conflict and how to handle it, whether that means stepping back from certain decisions or other steps to keep things clean.
3. Avoiding Conflicts
Do not use GIRW’s time, resources, or information for personal projects, side gigs, or to benefit another organization you’re tied to, now or in the past.
If you’re involved in decisions (like choosing suppliers or handling government contracts), base them on what’s best for GIRW, not on personal connections, current or former employment.
For government contracts, we avoid any actions that could look like favoritism or bias, ensuring our decisions are fair and compliant with federal rules.
4. Handling Conflicts
If a conflict is identified, we’ll work with you to resolve it—maybe by reassigning tasks or limiting your role in certain decisions.
If you fail to disclose a conflict or act in a way that harms GIRW, it could lead to consequences, up to and including ending your position with us.
For government work, we’ll document any conflicts and resolutions to stay compliant and transparent.
This policy keeps GIRW’s work honest and focused, ensuring we make decisions for the right reasons—delivering quality gear and serving our customers well.
At Green Iron Road Wear (GIRW), we keep our business straight by creating, maintaining, and storing records that are accurate and clear. This Business Records Policy ensures our small team—owner, employees, contractors—keeps reliable records to support our operations, customer service, and government contract requirements. We don’t mess around with sloppy paperwork; we do it right.
1. Creating Accurate Records
All business records—orders, invoices, shipping logs, customer communications, and contract documents—must be complete, truthful, and reflect what actually happened.
When recording transactions, include all relevant details, like dates, amounts, and customer or supplier info, to avoid confusion or errors.
For government contracts, we ensure records meet federal requirements, including any specific documentation needed for compliance or audits.
2. Maintaining Records
Records are stored securely, whether in digital systems (e.g., our website’s order management, email archives, and redundant backups) or physical files, to protect sensitive information like customer data or contract details.
Only authorized team members can access records, and we follow our GDPR-compliant privacy policy to safeguard customer information.
We regularly check records for accuracy, updating or correcting them as needed to keep everything in order.
3. Retention Periods
We keep business records for as long as needed to meet legal, tax, and contract requirements, typically at least 7 years for financial records and longer for government contracts if specified.
Records related to government work (e.g., invoices, compliance documents) are kept according to federal regulations, such as those in the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
Once retention periods are up, we securely dispose of records to protect privacy and prevent unauthorized access.
4. Accountability and Access
Everyone at GIRW is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate records for their tasks, whether it’s processing an order or documenting a contract.
If you spot an error or missing record, report it to Zane Larsen, Owner/Operator, via our Contact form or email, and we’ll fix it promptly.
For government contracts, we provide records to auditors or contracting officers as required, ensuring transparency and compliance.
5. Training and Compliance
Our small team is trained on proper record-keeping, especially for government work, to ensure we meet all standards.
Any issues with record accuracy or retention are addressed immediately, with corrective steps to prevent repeat problems.
This policy ensures GIRW’s records are accurate, secure, and ready for any customer or government need, keeping our business solid and reliable.
